Seasons at The Farm

Springtime on the farm brings a fresh breeze of spring blooms and plowed soil. Walking the mile long River Trail takes you by wild dogwoods, mossy creek banks, the shoreline of the Apalachee River and quiet ponds. If you rise early and visit the ponds, look for the deer, fox, raccoons and other wildlife taking their morning drink.

Summer is the time to relax in a rocking chair on the porch overlooking the courtyard garden with raised beds of cooking herbs and cut flowers. In the distance you may see the chicken flock chasing insects for their dinner. As evening draws near, it is well worth the wait to see the sunset over the distant barns and pasture.

Fall brings a colorful landscape and the brisk pace of harvest time. The farm dresses up with scarecrows, haystacks, and pumpkins scattered amongst the fall leaves. Deer, wild turkey and flocks of geese are likely to be found in the meadows enjoying the crisp fall weather.

Winter brings a round of hot chocolate, a fire in the Common Room and fresh-cut greenery throughout the farmhouse. Visiting the unique gift shops in town and taking the holiday tour of homes in Madison will put you in the Christmas spirit.
